FAQs

What is removed by VITAFILTA filters?

Our filters remove or significantly reduce all known contaminants, pesticides and heavy metals commonly found in municipal tap water, including lead and chromium. Our filters will not necessarily give a low TDS reading as they are designed to preserve important minerals such as Potassium and Magnesium which are not retained in purified water. Your water is softened and chlorine is reduced to enhance taste and odor. Please contact us for more details or specific questions.

Can the Temperature be adjusted?

Yes, the cooling temperature is adjustable and can be set to the temperature of your choice between 40-65 degrees. Note that your cooler will default to a setting of 45 degrees each time it is switched on. For more information on setting your temperature, please visit our “How It Works” page.

Water is not flowing from the inner tank to the outer tank. What is causing this?

Due to our high quality fine carbon, a vacuum sometimes can form in the filter which stops water from flowing through the filter. Remove the filter from the inner tank and submerge it in a bowl of water for about 2 minutes, shaking it gently. Then replace it in the inner tank and set up the cooler as normal. This should resolve the issue.

I see some grey discoloring in my water. Is this a problem?

You may at times notice a slight grey discoloring of your filtered water or even some very small carbon particles. This generally may happen when you first use your filter or when it has been taken out of the water and not used for a while. This is very common with carbon based filters and is perfectly safe. You can either pour a few glasses of water to flush out the residue or rinse the filter under a tap.

It is recommended that your rinse your filter for about one minute or so under tap water before first use or when it has been out of water and not used for a while. Do not be surprised to see some grey water until it clears.

The LED is showing an E1 error message. What does this mean?

There is a problem between the PCB and the cooling tank. Please contact VitaFilta. You will likely need a replacement cooler.

The LED is showing an E0 error message? What should I do?

Try switching off your unit for a few hours, preferably overnight. Try switching it on again. If the problem persists, contact VitaFilta. You will likely need a replacement cooler due to a PCB failure.

How often do I need to replace my filter?

This depends on the quality of water being filtered. Our indoor series filters generally filter 100-120 gallons of tap water before needing to be replaced. As a guide we recommend every 2 to 3 months depending on the consumption. We recommend our automatic subscription plan.

Do you have a subscription plan for sending me new filters on a regular schedule?

We have a filter subscription plan which is coming soon. We encourage you to subscribe so that you always know when it is time to replace your filter, and will have a new filter on hand to do so.

How much water does the VitaFilta cooler hold?

The cooler holds approximately 2.9 gallons of water, between the inner tank (unfiltered water), outer tank (filtered water) and cooling tank (filtered, chilled water)

How can I clean my VitaFilta cooler?

All parts may be cleaned with a soft damp cloth or sponge and a mild dishwashing detergent. Avoid any brushes or strong detergents. Do not submerge in water.

What should I do if my cooler has a leak or is not cooling?

TROUBLE SHOOTING

MY COOLER IS LEAKING

  • Is it on a flat surface.
  • Has it been dropped and any parts damaged. • Is the drain plug in the bottom.

MY WATER DOES NOT COOL

  • Check that the power supply is working by testing it with another appliance.
  • Make sure the on/off switch is in the on position.
  • Ensure that the LED light is on.
  • Make sure that you give enough time, especially if the water starting temperature is high and/or the ambient temperature is high.
  • If it is still not cooling please contact us.

I HAVE A DAMAGED PART WHICH I WOULD LIKE TO REPLACE

Contact us at Vitafilta.com and we will replace your damaged part.

I see some water condensation on the top of the water tank. Is this normal?

Yes, you will find that there is water condensation (the outer tank will mist up above the water level). This is perfectly normal and will disappear as you fill the tank and water clears it.

My cooler is not cycling off and therefore not running silently. What can I do?

This will occur when the cooler has recently dispensed water and therefore needs to cool water in the cooling tank. It is also not always possible for the cooler to easily cool down to the target temperature setting due mainly to ambient conditions. It is suggested that you try increase the setting to a slightly higher target temperature.

I notice that the water flow from the tap has slowed down. Is there a problem?

The system is gravity based. The more water in the tank, the faster the flow. Therefore, the flow will slow down as the tank empties. It is recommended that you top up the water when the level gets down to the level of the filter.
